Charlie has worked in the insurance and financial services industry since graduating from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ with a B.S. degree in Marketing.
A chance visit to the Durham-Chapel Hill area lead this former college athlete to "college basketball heaven" and he has been an avid ACC fan ever since.
Charlie began with The Prudential and in 1985 after a successful career as an agent decided to take on the challenge of building an independent financial services firm and what is now The Potter Financial Group.
He currently holds five professional designations:
- Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU);
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC);
- Registered Financial Consultant (RFC);
- Accredited Estate Planner (AEP);
- Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC).
Charlie is an active member of the Durham/Orange Estate Planning Council and is a Past-President of the Council.
His area of concentration is on the insurance component of the clients overall financial plan, focusing on the adequacy of existing individual or work related insurance coverages in light of the client’s stated goals and objectives.
In addition, Charlie manages the firm’s relationship with the major insurance companies we represent and negotiates costs and coverages on behalf of our clients. Charlie is a Registered Representative and an Investment Advisor Representative of NFP Securities, Inc.
